On September 22, the Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting their annual Oktoberfest from 5 pm to 10 pm at Deerpath Community Park. Come out and support your community at this German-inspired festival.
Deerpath Park is located in the center of Lake Forest only a few blocks away from Lake Michigan. Admission for the event is $10 per person and you may purchase a parking pass for $10 or $20 if you would like to park close to the event. Although coolers are not allowed on the premises, there is plenty of German food, snacks, and drinks available for purchase.
There will be plenty to do for guests including a German beer garden, live music and entertainment, food, and more. The event is run completely by volunteers and aims to raise funds for the local community. Proceeds will be used to aid the Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Department in keeping their year-round programs available for the public.
Although acts and performances have yet to be released for this year, last year’s event included classic German music at 5 pm, a classic rock performance by 97Nine, more German music and games at 7:30 pm, and a final show by Sixteen Candles at 8 pm. You can expect similar entertainment at this year’s Oktoberfest. Keep up with their website for more information about acts and activities for this year.
There are several restaurants right around the corner on North Western Avenue if you would like to grab a meal before the festival. Try out Lake Forest Food and Wine for classic American dishes and drinks or stop in for hot dogs at the Left Bank around the corner.
