Spring has arrived in Lake Forest! Celebrate the new season at one of these community events coming up this April with music, food, and books!

Beethoven and Berlioz

On April 13th and 14th is the Lake Forest Symphony’s Beethoven and Berlioz performance for the Masterworks Series. Guest Conductor Fabio Mechetti will conduct Symphony No. 1 as a continuation of the company’s Beethoven cycle. Emerging violinist Dana Zemtsov will perform her U.S. orchestral debut featuring Berlioz’s Harold in Italy. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased at the link above by clicking on your preferred date. Be sure to check out the last Masterworks Series performance in May featuring Tchaikovsky, Schubert, and Rachmaninov.

Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Foodie Fair

Coming up on Sunday, April 14th is the Foodie Fair hosted by Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. Head down to the Telegraph Road Train Station beginning at 1 pm to socialize with local restaurateurs, chefs, cooks, and food lovers. Local vendors will be offering samples, recipes, tips and tricks, shopping, and prizes. Participating locations include Lake Forest Greens, Hungry Monkey, and Sunset Foods. This is a free, all-ages event open to the public.

Ragdale’s 13th Annual “Novel Affair” – A Literary Happening

On April 26th and 27th is the 13th Annual Ragdale’s “Novel Affair” Literary Happening. On the 26th, selected authors will travel around local schools to support young readers and writers, followed by a reception on the 27th at Shoreacres in Lake Bluff. Twelve authors and artists will be featured, including Mona Simpson, Rumaan Alam, Melanie Benjamin, and Jamel Brinkley. Come out and enjoy a cocktail reception, book signing, and dinner on the lake. Tickets can be purchased online.
