Summer might be half-way over, but Lake Forest, Illinois, still has plenty of exciting events to keep you busy and happy. Whether you like music, competition, or peaceful walks, you’re going to love these events coming to Lake Forest within the next month.
July 27: Cardboard Canoe Regatta
If you like watching quirky competitions, you want to miss the Cardboard Canoe Regatta on July 27th at the Forest Park Beach. Watch as creative teams of up to five people work to build the best lake-worthy canoe using only cardboard and duct tape. After the construction phase, two members from each group will pit their canoes against their opponents in an epic and hilarious race across Lake Michigan. If you’d rather be part of the action, register a team with the code 30310105 at the LF Rec website. Team prizes will be awarded after the race, including crowd favorite, fastest canoe, and most dramatic sinking! This exciting event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come cheer for your favorite team or get involved and be everyone else’s favorite!
July 28: Improv Benefit Show
Would you like to enjoy an evening of laughter while supporting a good cause? Then get your tickets to the Improv Benefit Show on July 28th at 6 p.m. This event, sponsored by famed improv coach and director Liz Allen, will feature several veteran improvisation artists who are well-known to both the Chicago area and TV! But the most crucial detail about this show is what it supports: the proceeds will go to help The Stepping Stones Network fight human trafficking in the Chicago area. This family-friendly event will be held in the John and Nancy Hughes Theater at the Gorton Community Center. Don’t miss the chance to see the show and support this important cause! Tickets can be bought for $25 online or at the door.
August 6-7: 2019 Lake Forest Day Carnival
No Lake Forest resident will want to miss the 111th Lake Forest Day Celebration and Carnival! This two-day event will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Come enjoy live music, carnival rides, food, and even a raffle! And you won’t want to miss the Lake Forest Day Parade on Wednesday at noon!
